What ports do your vehicles have?

Devices plug into two types of diagnostic ports. Your fleet could have a mix of both.

OBD-II (16-pin)

Cars, vans & pickups

A wide, D-shaped 16-pin connector found under the driver-side dash, usually near the steering column. Standard on virtually every car, van, SUV, and light or medium pickup built since 1996.

Examples: sedans, cargo vans, service trucks, F-150s.

Vehicles with an OBD-II port

J1939 (9-pin round)

Semis & heavy trucks

A round, threaded 9-pin connector (often green or black) mounted low on the dash or near the driver’s left knee panel. Standard on heavy-duty trucks, semis, and many buses.

Examples: Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, school & transit buses.

Vehicles with a J1939 port

If you have no vehicles to track, you can continue straight to asset trackers.
